The New York Arabic Orchestra is New York City’s leading institute in classical and contemporary Arabic music, directed by world-renowned virtuoso and educator, Bassam Saba. The Orchestra brings together a culturally diverse group of musicians around one common passion: Arabic Music.
The NY Arabic Orchestra is comprised of 40 musicians as diverse as the city itself, hailing from multiple cultural, musical and educational backgrounds yet united by their love of Arabic music and culture. Since 2007, the NYAO fine-tuned its sound and composition in Arabic, Western and modern music contexts, earning them invitations to Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, Symphony Space, Columbia University’s Miller Theatre, Merkin Hall and Detroit Symphony Hall. In education, the NYAO was invited around the world to host lectures and workshops at universities, public schools, cultural centers and refugee camps.
Our Mission is the preservation and promotion of classical and traditional Arabic music and culture through concerts, new compositions and educational programs. NYAO education offers both a rigorous training program for our orchestra performers and an outreach program that provides music classes, workshops, youth programs and much more.
