Accord Treble Choir was formed in 2009 by friends and veteran choral singers in NYC. The choir selects challenging music that emphasizes the beauty of treble voices with repertoire ranging from medieval chant to the vast array of 20th and 21st century music written specifically for upper voice a cappella ensembles. Accord is constantly expanding their repertoire while honing musicianship, ensemble, vocal command, and unity. They have been an Ensemble in Residence at the St. Ignatius of Antioch Episcopal Church in Manhattan since 2011 and performed at the 2012 Eastern Division Conference of the American Choral Directors Association in Providence, Rhode Island.
Members of Accord push each other to grow musically, aurally, and vocally by exploring various languages and styles. The ensemble strives to be non-hierarchical, working collaboratively to prepare pieces in the spirit of consensus. To this end members are equally valued as leaders and contributors in the music making process. All members have all been actively involved with choral music for the majority of their lives. Their combined musical/choral/vocal knowledge and resources strengthen the group and create an atmosphere of sharing and trust. Audience members hear and feel the genuine joy, openness and passion Accord pours into each note.
